Many Christians at Risk of Expulsion from Public Universities Print E-mail

Eastern Michigan University ClassTwice in the past year, at separate universities, two Christian students working on their Masters degree in counseling were expelled for being unfit for the program. Julea Ward and Jennifer Keeton were told that because of their beliefs they would only be allowed to remain in the programs if they underwent reeducation. Reeducation required them to deny their faith and affirm an unnatural, sinful behavior.

Under the American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics, the homosexual lifestyle must be recognized and accepted.

Julea Ward sued Eastern Michigan University, but a Federal judge ruled that the university could expel her because she said she wouldn’t change her views and counsel clients to live lifestyles contrary to her Christian faith. Now all Christians in counseling programs at public colleges and universities could be in danger of being denied an education because of their religious convictions.

TAKE ACTION:

Contact the Michigan State legislatures of the Education Committee and demand that they protect the rights of Christian students in public universities or remove the universities public funding.

As a graduate of Mich. State Univ (1951), I deplore the action at EMU to expel a
student in their MS counseling progam who was expelled for not agreeing to
counsel against her Christian convictions. David C. Patton, Publisher, DYNAMIS

As an academic I am appalled by these decisions. I am ashamed of my
"colleagues" in psychology. To impose beliefs has never been the
purpose of education in America, obviously everyone is entitled to tolerance
except Christians. I wonder if a Muslim student would be subject to the same
requirements?

As an American, I deplore the action EMU is taking against Christian students
who follow their faith concerning homosexuals. I demand that you protect the
rights of Christian students to voice their beliefs.
